Grad study guide: Beyond the Beakers

Beyond the Beakers:
Smart Advice for Entering Graduate Programs in the Sciences and Engineering
by Gayle R. Slaughter, Ph.D.

This is a book I got during my interview at Baylor College of Medicine. If you are in a similar position as I am, looking at a career of scientific research, then this is the guide book for you. It covers all the important topics, including building up research experiences, preparing for GRE, mentor relationships, lab notes & data, paper reading, plagiarism, grants, presenting your work (writing, graphs, oral, conferences...), grad school applications, interviews and choosing. You might need to read different parts of the book at different stages of your life, but sure is a great book of practical advice.

Definitely a must read for to-be scientists.
